Restaurant Review – Cheesie’s
Sometimes, there’s just nothing better than a grilled cheese sandwich. And on those days, there’s Cheesie’s. Cheesie’s is a gourmet grilled cheese restaurant with 5 locations in the Chicagoland area. I went to the location on Belmont, just off the Red line stop (958 W. Belmont). The restaurant is counter service and has a good number of tables, including bar seating. If you’re looking to stick to your diet, this is not the place for you. The menu is loaded with gourmet sandwiches, fried chicken, mac and cheese, and other fried goodies. With twelve mouthwatering sandwiches on the menu, I had a difficult choice in front of me. I decided on The Caprese: mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, cracked pepper, and fresh basil on sourdough bread. The sandwich is served with creamy pesto mayo for dipping. This was absolutely delicious! I love sourdough and it was perfectly toasted and crunchy. The herbs and tomatoes were fresh and crisp, complimenting the gooey cheese and creamy mayo. My friend decided to try The Mac: American cheese, Merkt’s cheddar cheese, and homemade macaroni and cheese on Texas toast, served with tomato soup. Man oh MAN was this good. It is super decadent, so she saved half of it for later, but the flavors were fantastic. And if you’ve ever wondered if mac and cheese would be tasty on a sandwich, it totally is.
