SUE’S "WHAT’S HAPPENING!" IN AND AROUND CHICAGO THIS WEEKEND – JUNE 1 2007
HERE’S WHAT’S GOING ON THIS WEEKEND IN CHICAGO AND NEARBY!
Isn’t it great having a short work week! The weekend arrives that much quicker. Wouldn’t it be awesome if our weekends were three days instead of two. Yeah I thought so – I’ll come back down to Earth now.
Well are you ready for another fun-packed weekend? I AM! So let’s get started and check out what’s happening around town.
It looks as if this weekend is for the music lovers kicking off with the 23rd Annual Gospel Music Festival to be held June 1st through June 3rd at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. This three-day fest will host more than 50 performances with some of the leading gospel acts which include Myron Butler and Levi Donald Lawrence & Company and Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson just to name a few – and it’s all FREE!
If you prefer something more local there’s the 24th Annual Belmont-Sheffield Music Fest which begins on June 2nd through June 3rd from noon to 9:00 PM each day. This fest reflects upon the lifestyle of this area and features many of the best national regional and local music acts in Chicago as well as fine arts and crafts.
These two fests have been mainstays in Chicago. Speaking of mainstays the Chicago Cubs host the Atlanta Braves this weekend. Yes our Cubs need to do a little brushing up in baseball fundamentals – well maybe A LOT of brushing up! However it’s always a great time at Beautiful Wrigley Field our own national treasure and baseball shrine since 1914.
If you are athletically inclined perhaps you would like to participate in Run for the Zoo. It’s been said that this is one of Chicago’s oldest running events for both the young and old who compete in a variety of athletic events at different levels. This event will be held June 3rd beginning at 8:00 AM at Lincoln Park Zoo (Canon Drive and Fullerton). Proceeds benefit the Zoo – one of the only major free zoos within a major metropolitan area in the USA or Canada! Click her to register for the Run
Well I hope you’ll enjoy at least one activity Chicago has to offer over this weekend but remember to stay safe while you’re having all that fun. Also let me know what other fun things and events you and your family have planned this summer. I would LOVE to share your comments with everyone!
